Although experience in the conservation field is not a prerequisite, we will give additional consideration to those candidates who are motivated by their desire to work in conservation.
We are seeking a hands-on manager to provide legal and administrative support to the Executive Vice President/General Counsel, as well as to other legal staff as required, in connection with the acquisition, preservation and resale of land for conservation purposes. Will manage the Legal Department, including filing system, archiving and scanning of file documents into the Fund’s Document Locator system.
Essential functions of this job include but are not limited to:
The qualified candidate will have a minimum of 7 years experience in transactional real estate field with supervisory responsibilities. College degree strongly preferred; paralegal certificate required. A thorough working knowledge of title insurance matters and real estate transactions needed. Excellent computer skills, strong verbal and written communication skills and experience in preparation of real estate transactional documents essential. Ability to work well with a variety of transactional partners including local attorneys, title agencies, field and support staff, government personnel and non-profit organizations. Must be dependable, flexible, team oriented and have excellent organization skills. Ability to handle a large number of projects simultaneously and work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a sense of humor. We are seeking a dynamic, self-motivated, mature individual to work part time (15 hours/week) for our Resourceful Communities Program (RCP) located in Chapel Hill, NC. Established in 1991, the RCP helps North Carolina’s underserved communities create new economies that protect and restore their rich natural, cultural, historic and community resources.
The assistant will provide clerical and administrative support to RCP staff and consultants including but not limited to event coordination assistance, partner outreach/communication, database management and updating marketing materials. Also will photocopy various materials as required, contact various partners through telephone and e-mail and revise/update contact data.
The qualified candidate will have strong administrative skills including proficiency in Microsoft office, data entry and the ability and willingness to learn new applications quickly and with minimal assistance. Strong communication and interpersonal skills required in order to work cooperatively with a wide range of people and organizations. Excellent organizational skills and multi-tasking ability needed.

We are seeking an intern to assist with data collection, analysis and interpretation for research at The Freshwater Institute located in Shepherdstown, WV. The intern will assist with hands-on work to include but not limited to sampling events, harvests, etc.
The qualified candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in a related field with some experience in study design, analysis of statistical data and scientific writing. Must be able to work at a computer for extended periods, have strong communication skills and the ability to work independently as well as interact with other staff members. Will also be responsible for carrying out moderately, physically, demanding manual labor assistance on-site on an as needed basis.
