Matt Kaplan

Assistant Secretary and Regional and Working Forest Fund Counsel

Matt joined The Conservation Fund in June 2023. He serves as counsel to the Working Forest Fund and represents The Conservation Fund in real estate and other transactions. Matt has extensive experience representing institutional real estate owners and investors in a wide variety of real estate matters across real estate asset classes, including acquisitions, dispositions, financings, joint ventures, leases and development transactions.

Matt began his career in private practice as a real estate attorney at Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP. Prior to joining the Fund, Matt served for more than 10 years as counsel to a private equity real estate fund manager, focused on investing in retail and consumer fulfillment and distribution assets in major markets across the United States.

Matt received a B.A. from Cornell University’s College of Arts & Sciences and a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law.
