Meg LaPointe

Milwaukee Project Coordinator

Meg joined The Conservation Fund in 2022 as the Milwaukee Program Coordinator in Wisconsin. She assists the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District in operating two flood prevention programs — Greenseams and Working Soils. She identifies land acquisition opportunities, prepares grant applications, manages due diligence activities, completes annual monitoring visits and handles accounting for the programs. She also utilizes Geographical Information Systems (GIS) to create maps used in project prioritization, field operations, grant applications and communications.

Meg has contributed to environmental conservation efforts for over a decade, starting as an intern at Mississippi Valley Conservancy and as a Conservation Crew Leader for WisCorps in 2012. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, an Associate of Applied Science degree in Graphic Design from Western Technical College, and a Master of Science degree in Environmental Conservation from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. For her Masters capstone project, she collaborated with American Bird Conservancy, Oregon State University, USFS Siuslaw National Forest, and Oregon Parks and Recreation to obtain GIS data that she used to prioritize recreation areas for enrollment in a conservation campaign for marbled murrelet.

With a passion for cartography and graphics, Meg explores the intersection of GIS and visual design to communicate compelling stories in support of environmental conservation. Additionally, she serves on the Board of Directors of the Southern Wisconsin Land Conservancy and volunteers with Southern Wisconsin Bird Alliance as part of the Bird Collision Corps.
