Allen Patterson

Program Associate

Allen is the Milwaukee Program Associate. His main responsibilities are landowner outreach, project cultivation and negotiation. Allen takes pride in his ability to connect with landowners and build long-term relationships. The Milwaukee office is a partnership with the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District and their visionary Greenseams and Working Soils programs, focusing on conservation easements and fee simple purchases for flood control and water quality purposes.

For Allen, this is a second career. Allen retired from Hamilton County in Indiana after serving 31 years as the Parks and Recreation Director. Under his leadership the park system grew from 191 acres to over 1,600 acres, from a $700,000 budget to over $7 million budget and 20 employees to over 125. Allen was recognized in 2021 by Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb as a Sagamore of the Wabash, the highest honor bestowed upon Indiana residents. Allen graduated in 1987 from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science in Forestry.

Allen has been married to Laura for 34 years and has two children, Aaron and Katherine, and two grandchildren (Aaron) Andrew and Alden, ages 4 and 2. Aside from family activities, in his free time Allen can be found fishing and golfing.
