Dan Medeiros

Conservation Project Manager

Dan joined The Conservation Fund in 2021. He has over 17 years of real estate experience in both commercial investing and land conservation. Dan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Transportation from Massachusetts Maritime Academy. Prior to his real estate career, Dan went to sea as a merchant marine officer. In this role he was responsible for the safe navigation and operation of unlimited tonnage vessels plying the world’s oceans.

Dan began his conservation career when he joined the Land Trust of Santa Cruz County in 2007 as the Director of Land Protection. In this role Dan provided leadership in growing the organization from a start-up land trust to one of the most dynamic land trusts in California. He led numerous projects resulting in 15,000 acres of conservation within Santa Cruz and its adjacent counties. Of note was the Highway 17 wildlife corridor project which protected a critical wildlife corridor and constructed California’s first purpose-built wildlife crossing structure over the highway.

Dan lives in Sant Cruz with his daughter. He loves outdoor adventures; his interests include surfing, sailing, mountaineering, skiing and hunting.
