Jeffrey Liebert

Senior Vice President, Capital Investments

Jeffrey is responsible for impact investment and capital formation for The Conservation Fund, including both the design of innovative financial solutions, as well as building a constituency of mission-aligned funding partners. In 2001, he joined International Finance Corporation’s Environmental Finance division and most recently served as the Managing Partner of the impact investment asset manager Gazelle Finance, an organization that he founded in 2013. In that capacity, he was responsible for fundraising, investment, impact and ESG strategy, as well as the development of the fund’s blended finance instruments. In addition to capitalizing this first-time fund manager, he built and led a team of investment professionals across five countries that invested in over 40 companies with a dual mission of socioeconomic development and commercial return.

Jeffrey previously was the founder of Verdeo Group, one of the first carbon offset project development companies in the United States, which sold carbon offset credits into the California compliance and voluntary markets. Jeffrey co-founded and served as a Board Director of The Taimen Fund, a conservation organization that merged with the Wild Salmon Center in 2023. He graduated from Tufts University with a degree in International Relations and The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania with an MBA in finance.
