John Davidson

Senior Research Scientist

John is a Senior Research Scientist at the Freshwater Institute. He is responsible for designing and managing research projects, writing grant proposals, and disseminating results through peer-reviewed publications, industry articles and conference presentations. John has authored more than 50 research articles on a range of topics, including recirculating aquaculture system technologies, characterizing and optimizing the fish culture environment for salmonids, off-flavor remediation and sustainable aquafeeds. He has received three Superior Paper Awards from the Aquacultural Engineering Society and several Editor’s Choice Awards from the Journal of the World Aquaculture Society. John began working at the Freshwater Institute as a student intern in 1997 and now holds a Dr. Philos. degree from the University of Bergen in Norway, a Master of Science in Wildlife and Fisheries Resources from West Virginia University, and a Bachelor of Science degree from Shepherd University.
