Water and Environmental Chemistry Lab Manager

Megan is the Water and Environmental Laboratory Manager at Freshwater Institute, where she has been an integral part of the team since her internship position in 2016. She oversees and performs a wide range of chemical, physical and biological analyses of aquaculture water and wastewater, ensuring rigorous quality control and regulatory compliance. Megan’s expertise in water chemistry is crucial for managing sampling and data requirements associated with National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits.

She earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a concentration in Ecology from Shepherd University, followed by a Master of Science in Environmental Biology from Hood College. Megan’s academic background and extensive experience equip her to handle complex environmental challenges and contribute to the Institute’s mission of sustainable water management. Beyond her professional life, Megan is an avid reader, enjoys camping and loves to travel. Her commitment to environmental preservation extends to her personal life, reflecting her deep passion for protecting nature. Megan resides in the eastern panhandle of West Virginia, where she continues to be actively involved in local environmental initiatives.
