Michael Johnson

Senior Government Relations Representative

As Senior Government Relations Representative, Michael represents The Conservation Fund to the Executive Branch, U.S. Congress, and nongovernmental organizations regarding federal conservation policy and funding priorities, with a focus on the Land and Water Conservation Fund and the Federal Land Transaction Facilitation Act. Michael works with western Congressional delegations and key authorizing committees to conserve wildlife and fish habitat, promote sportsmen and outdoor recreation access and opportunities, build strong local economies, and preserve American history through federal conservation policy. He is the Fund’s lead realty liaison with the Bureau of Land Management and National Park Service.

Michael has over two decades of local, state and federal government service for the municipality of Anchorage, Alaska; U.S. Senators Mark Begich and Tom Udall; and the Department of the Interior, among others. He holds a B.A. from Vassar College and an M.Phil. in Polar Studies from the Scott Polar Research Institute at the University of Cambridge.
