Sally Manikian

New Hampshire and Vermont State Director

Sally has been the Fund’s New Hampshire and Vermont state lead since 2016. A persistent creative thinker, her current Conservation Fund projects span land conservation, working lands and resilient communities. Having held diverse positions — from a local reporter to an adjunct professor — Sally found her way to the Fund after a decade of working with both the White Mountain National Forest and in local communities, forging an understanding of land conservation that requires multiple perspectives and voices. Outside of the Fund, Sally serves on the board of the NH Land Trust Coalition and the New England Grassroots Fund. She is a published essayist and writer, a contributor to Appalachia Journal and the editor of the Appalachian Mountain Club’s Guide to Outdoor Leadership. Sally’s regional leadership has been featured in Northern Woodlands magazine as well as New Hampshire Public Radio. Sally holds a Master of Science and Economics from the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, and a B.A. from Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland. Home is the northern edge of the White Mountains, where she trains her team of professional racing sled dogs on land the Fund has conserved for public access.
