Tony Richardson

Director, Urban Conservation Initiatives

Tony leads the Fund’s urban conservation initiatives, including the Parks with Purpose program, which focuses on some of America’s most vulnerable urban communities. Through equitable park development projects and a community-centered approach, he supports residents in transforming and restoring dilapidated inner-city properties into vibrant new parks.

Prior to joining The Conservation Fund, Tony served as the first-ever Senior Manager of Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion for the Rock Creek Conservancy, where he worked with communities to implement programs and events designed to engage diverse audiences. Before the Rock Creek Conservancy, he worked at the national level as Director of Conservation for the National Environmental Education Foundation.

Tony is passionate about connecting communities to nature, particularly communities that are often underrepresented in the outdoors. He has served in volunteer leadership positions with several national environmental organizations, including the Partnership for the National Trail System, the Student Conservation Association and Outdoor Afro.
