Resilient Communities

Conservation and community go hand in hand. Strong, vibrant and prosperous communities value nature and heritage and the need to grow the economy.

Resilient Communities

We work in the shadows of skyscrapers in bustling city centers and in one-stoplight rural towns where livestock outnumber the people because we understand that nature and communities depend on each other to stay healthy and strong.

The Conservation Fund partners with grassroots and community organizations, local governments and businesses to improve access to jobs and healthy foods. We help create safe places to play and ensure that historically underserved communities have easy access to greenspace. And when land comes up for sale, we help return stewardship to the people closest to it, as we did when we purchased and returned 28,000 of ancestral land to the Bois Forte Band of the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe after it was put up for sale.

At TCF, we know that supporting economic opportunity makes communities more resilient, healthier and better equipped to safeguard the land, physical structures and stories that will educate and inspire future generations.

Activating the Natural Resource Economy

We work with rural communities on the front front line in decisions about the future of land, water and wildlife to align protecting nature with economic opportunity.

African American Heritage Sites

We are working with local communities and partners to identify and protect sites important to African American heritage and history.

Freshwater Institute

We advance sustainable practices that create a robust aquaculture industry to help ensure everyone has access to high-quality, safe and nutritious seafood.

Resourceful Communities

We support a network of grassroots and community organizations to advance environmental stewardship, social justice and sustainable economic development.

Urban Conservation

We work across America to support healthy, vibrant cities through greenspace and other urban conservation efforts.
