Texas

Introduction

Texas’ vast landscape includes deserts, mountains, forests and coastal plains. From Big Bend National Park to the Gulf Coast, vibrant landscapes and wetlands give life to endangered species and migratory birds and create space for outdoor recreation. Our work in the state focuses on protecting threatened habitats, preserving lands critical for storm resilience and expanding access to public land in Texas.

Since the 1990s, over 100,000 acres of coastal wetlands have been lost in the Upper Gulf Coast region of Texas. In 2016, The Conservation Fund acquired the Sabine Ranch property with a goal of transferring it to the Fish and Wildlife Service to preserve the nature and landscape in perpetuity.
